Canadian passport photos are 50 mm wide by 70 mm high, with the face measuring 31 to 36 mm from chin to crown. You need two identical photos, taken in person by a commercial photographer or photo studio no more than 6 months before you apply.
When your application needs a guarantor, the back of one photo must show the date it was taken and the studio's name and complete address, and your guarantor certifies and signs it. Adults renewing their passport do not need a guarantor.
Yes. Infants and newborns are welcome. Canada asks that no hands appear in a child's photo, and a newborn may be photographed in a car seat with a white blanket behind the head.
Yes. Online renewals need a digital photo taken by a commercial photographer within the last 6 months; scans of printed photos are not accepted. A high-resolution digital file can be added to printed passport photos for $56.65; mention the online renewal when you book.
